Beautiful portrait of Suzanne Victoire FARROUILH, countess de LAMBERTYE.

Suzanne Victoire Farrouilh, daughter of a shipowner of Bordeaux, married, on October 13th,1778, to Joseph Emmanuel Auguste François count de Lambertye (1748-1819). The count and the countess of Lambertye had to emigrate in 1790 and left for Maastricht. It is there that the countess died there in 1793.

This miniature is one of rare works painted on ivory by Louis-Marie Dulieu de Chenevoux (1752-1795), more known for his enamels.

The work is monogrammed D.C. twice (below on the left and in the center to the right). We can date this miniature before 1790,  date of the departure in emigration of the countess.

The partition which she holds in hand, entitled "Sylvain" is an opera by André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry (1741-1813), created in 1770 and which had a lot of success until the end of  XVIIIth century...


CONDITION: Very good original condition for the miniature. Lost on tortoiseshell lid (see last picture)
