Nathaniel HONE (1718-1784), MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF A LADY WITH LARGE PINK HAT, DATED 1749
Important miniature on enamel by Nathaniel HONE (1718-1784), monogrammed and dated right : NH 1749. The portrait shows a young woman in profile, (which is unique in the career of the artist) the hair retained by a lace headdress and a large pink silk capelin, matched her dress. Nathaniel Hone settled in London around 1742. One year after this fine portrait (1749), he went to Rome and then to Florence where he was made a member of the Academy. He founded the Royal Academy on his return to England, and exhibited his entire life in London. His enamels are rare, those of large size like this one , even more.TECHNIQUE:
