DESCRIPTION :

Marie-Thérèse-Raphaëlle was a daughter of Philip V of Spain and his wife Elisabeth Farnese.

In 1745 she married the Dauphin Louis, the son of Louis XV . This union achieved the much longed-for reconciliation between the two countries. On 19 July 1746 Marie-Thérèse-Raphaëlle gave birth to a daughter, Marie Thérèse. Three days later she died in her childbed, and her daughter died in 1748. Louis, who had been very devoted to his wife, spent a long period in mourning.
The delicately painted miniature echoes in small format an oil painting by Louis Michel Van Loo, which was presumably created in 1744 on the occasion of the sitter’s engagement to the Dauphin

The reverse of miniature, let's see under glass a name and a signature (of miniaturiste), unfortuantly not legible

CONDITION: Very good original condition
