Large miniature, signed and dated to the left : (hein)sius 1790.

HEINSIUS Johann-Julius (1740-1812) was the painter and miniaturist of Louis XV’s daughters  Mesdames de France.

In 1790 he fled the Revolution and settled in Orléans, travelling to Paris regularly.

There is no doubt that this beautiful portrait counts as one of the last painted by the artist under the "Ancien Regime". Indeed, the richness of silk, sails and pearls, worn in diadem, as earrings and around her arms, was already in 1790 an image of opulence which was risky to give.

CONDITION: Very good condition.
