FRENCH SCHOOL 18th CENTURY, PORTRAIT OF THE MARCHIONESS DE GANGE , CIRCA 1750
Portrait of the Marchioness of de Ganges, represented as a Diane huntress. Around her, her dogs, her bow and its quiver. Miniature on vellum of the first half of the XVIIIth century, in its gilded wood frame of origine and sculptured of snakes. This portrait, although resumed to illustrate her biography, is not the one of famous Diane de Joani, marchioness de Ganges, murdered in 1667. Doubtless it is the portrait of Marie Françoise de Sarret (1718-1801) or d'Anne-Elisabeth Scot de la Mesangere , the two wifes of the 4th marquis de Ganges : Charles-Alexandre de Vissec de Latude (1718-1744).TECHNIQUE:
