Jean-Louis Demarne is a Belgian painter cometo work in Paris from the 1780s. Regular in the Salons of Paris, he is more known for his paintings of landscapes or battles, but he also made miniatures. One fixe sous-verre, circular was sold in 1912 during the sale Levaigneur under n° 200.It should be this one. It also showed a country landscape with farmers and their animals. Our miniature is monogrammed to the left D.M., which is rare, and signed in the lapel : by Demarne.TECHNIQUE:
