The miniature is presented in its ivory  frame of origin, made in China (Canton, XIXth century), finely carved of dragons, with its foot in the lapel. The whole in its case of leather and silk, of the time and a small handwritten note on its origin.

Our miniature can be compare with the one of  Begam Zinat / to Zeenat Mahal : favorite wife of Emperor Bahadur Shâh Zafar (1840-1857) on the politics of whom she had influence. The high quality of this portrait seems to be able to put it in connection with Indian artists appointed by Company. See Victoria and Albert Museum, number of inventory IM.47-1909
