Important miniature of very large dimensions, signed and dated below on the right : Edmé Rousseau, Juin, 1846.

Portrait identified with the lapel as Mrs Pauline Petit de Bantel,  born Louise Victoire Pauline Beaucousin (1809-1876)

The size of this miniature, as the exceptional part of silversmith's trade which represents the frame, are live up to the beauty of  the sitter and to the quality of this work : one of the most accomplished of the artist.

Edmé Rousseau was a pupil of David, of Jean-Baptiste Jacques Augustin and François Meuret.


CONDITION: Very good condition. 2 cracks restored by Bernd Pappe on left and right borders.
