DESCRIPTION :

Pair of miniatures showing for one, the castle of Villequier, water surrounded. In other one, a view of ponds and the abbey. A boat concerns its flag with arms of the family of Duke d' Aumont, owner of the castle before the Revolution. The castle and the abbey seem to have been destroyed in the Revolution and during the World War I.

Louis-Alexandre Céleste, duke d' Aumont and Villequier (1736-1814), as well as his wife and their three daughters, were all portrayed by François Dumont.

The green tints and delicacy of execution of these two landscapes could make them classify in the work of Louis Gabriel Moreau (1740-1806)

CONDITION: Perfect original condition.
