HOIN Claude Jean-Baptiste (1750-1817),MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF A LADY IN A PARC, CIRCA 1785
Hoin was a painter in gouache, pastel, engraver and miniaturist. Pupil of F. Devosge in Dijon, then of Greuze as soon as he arrived in Paris in 1772. In 1786 he was appointed painter to Monsieur ( the Count de Provence, brother of king Louis XVI) . This miniature dated from this period. Doubtless one of the most accomplished of the artist, where the extreme beauty of the sitter is probably not foreign to the success of this tiny masterpiece. The influence of the tastes of time in particular of Peter Adolf Hall is here totally assumed. This miniature, given to Peter Adolph Hall by Mme de Plinval de Guillebon, is reproduced page 58 and 120 of her book about this artist.TECHNIQUE:
