DESCRIPTION :

Important Empire miniature by Jean-Urbain Guérin.

The work shows, grouped in a same portrait, a young couple and their child. The baby playing with a miniature carried in medallion by his mother (reminding a fourth sitter) .Guérin resumes here the composition of the miniature of the Louvre "a mother and her child" (ref RF 30716) painted in 1791,  but in more elaborate maner, with the addition of a father in the composition. The use of a miniature in the miniature was also used by him in another work of the Louvre: ref RF 30720.


CONDITION: Very good condition. Cleaned by Dr. Bernd Pappe.
