AUGUSTIN Jean-Baptiste Jacques (1759-1832), PORTRAIT OF MARQUIONESS DE MORET, 1789
Discovered quite recently, this fine miniature of the biginning of the career of Augustin, had disappeared since its Léo Schidlof sale of 1925, during the dispersal of the Warneck collection. Only known since by the bad reproduction of the catalog of 1925, reproduced page 233 of its catalog raisoné about the artist by Bernd Pappe in 2015 (inventory n°14) .If Bernd Pappe could not pronounce on its authentification according to the picture of 1926, he confirmed, during his restoration in 2016, taht this work is by the the hand of Augustin himself.
