HORNONG (HORNUNG), RUSSIAN MINIATURE SIGNED AND DATED 1778
Miniatutre signed and dated to the right : Hornong fecit 1778. The state of the current researches gives us little thing about this painter in miniature of which we ignore the the first name . Only certainty, he settled down in Russia and made a career there because all the miniatures signed "Hornong fecit" of which the sitters are identified are from Russian aristocracy : Countess Anne Kirillowna Vassiltchikoff, Grand duke Nicolas Mikhailowitch, Countess Maria Rumiantseva, Aleksandr Petrovich Ermolov...
