DESCRIPTION :

Very fine miniature portrait of Joseph II of Lorraine Hapsburg, Holy roman Emperor, brother of queen Marie-Antoinette.

The miniature was painted towards 1780-90, and  then mounted  in bracelet by the following generation, at the beginning of the 19th. century (as he was the custom).

At this period  appears the fashion of the  braided hair jewels, which allies to the miniatures portraits of his ancestors, forms a real historic memory as much as sentimental.


CONDITION: Perfect original condition.
